The Guardian Angel Society was formed in 1997 by Rev. Msgr. Joseph Champlin when he realized too many students were not graduating from high school. He wanted to help students at Cathedral School with tuition and other support to make sure they continued, and ultimately completed, their education.

His mission followed the students from the original Cathedral school to the Cathedral Academy at Pompei and finally, now, to MHR and BSS – the last two Catholic elementary schools within Syracuse.
